NDIS Personal Training Services in Sydney
At Gains Fitness, we provide specialist mobile NDIS personal training across Sydney for participants of all abilities. With over 19 years of experience in the fitness industry, our trainers – many of whom have backgrounds as disability support workers – come to your home, local park, Supported Independent Living (SIL) residence, or any location that suits you. We work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, collaborating closely with support coordinators, plan managers, and families to deliver personalised exercise programs that help you build strength, improve mobility, increase independence, and enhance overall wellbeing.
Who Can Use Our NDIS Personal Training Service?
Gains Fitness works with NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. Here’s what that means for you:
Self-Managed NDIS Participants:
If you manage your own NDIS funding, you have full choice and control over which providers you use. You can book directly with Gains Fitness and claim the cost from your NDIS budget. No registration requirement applies to your provider choice.
Plan-Managed NDIS Participants:
If your NDIS plan is managed by a plan manager, they can process invoices from any provider – including Gains Fitness. Simply let your plan manager know you’d like to train with us and we’ll handle the invoicing directly with them.
Why Choose Gains Fitness for NDIS Personal Training?
Choosing the right personal trainer as an NDIS participant is about more than fitness qualifications. You need a provider who genuinely understands disability, who can adapt exercises to your specific needs, and who makes the entire process easy and stress-free. Here’s why NDIS participants and their support coordinators across Sydney trust Gains Fitness:
We Come to You – Fully Mobile Service
Unlike gym-based NDIS fitness providers, our trainers travel to wherever is most comfortable and convenient for you. Whether that’s your home, your SIL accommodation, a nearby park, or a community centre, we arrive fully equipped with everything needed for your session. This eliminates the barriers of transport, unfamiliar environments, and sensory overwhelm that can make gym-based training difficult for many NDIS participants.
19+ Years of Fitness Industry Experience
With over 19 years of hands-on experience in the fitness industry, Gains Fitness brings a depth of knowledge that few competitors can match. We have worked with hundreds of clients across every fitness level, age group, and ability. This experience means we know how to design safe, effective programs – and how to adapt them when circumstances change.
Trainers with Disability Support Experience
Our NDIS personal trainers are not just certified fitness professionals – they bring real-world experience as disability support workers. They understand how to communicate effectively with participants who have diverse needs, how to modify exercises for different abilities, and how to create a safe, encouraging environment where every client feels comfortable and supported. All our trainers hold current First Aid certification and a minimum Certificate IV in Personal Training.
Tailored Programs for Every Ability
No two NDIS participants are the same, and neither are our training programs. After an initial assessment, your trainer will design a personalised exercise plan based on your goals, abilities, any medical considerations, and what you enjoy. Programs are regularly reviewed and adjusted to ensure you’re progressing safely and staying motivated.
We Work with Your Support Team
We understand the NDIS ecosystem. Our team collaborates with your support coordinator, plan manager, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, and family members to ensure your training aligns with your NDIS plan goals. We provide regular progress reports and can supply documentation to support your plan reviews.

How NDIS Funding Works for Personal Training
Personal training can be funded through your NDIS plan under several budget categories, depending on your specific plan and goals. Gains Fitness provides personal training services only — we do not provide fund management or plan management services. The most common NDIS funding pathways for personal training include:
Improved Health and Wellbeing
This is the most common category used to fund personal training for NDIS participants. It covers exercise and dietary advice that is required because of the impact of your disability. Your personal training sessions with Gains Fitness can be billed under this category when they are directly related to your disability-related health and fitness goals.
Assistance with Social and Community Participation
If your NDIS plan includes funding for community participation, personal training sessions conducted at local parks, community centres, or outdoor spaces can qualify as supported community access. This is particularly relevant for participants whose goals include increased social interaction and community engagement through fitness activities.
Improved Daily Living
In some cases, personal training that focuses on functional movement, balance, and daily living skills (such as the strength needed to transfer independently, or the mobility required for daily tasks) can be funded under this category, particularly when recommended by an allied health professional.
Please note: Gym memberships are not covered by the NDIS. However, personal training sessions with a qualified trainer are an eligible support when they relate to your disability and NDIS plan goals. Speak with your support coordinator or plan manager to confirm how your funding can be used.

Learn moreFrequently Asked Questions About NDIS Personal Training
Can the NDIS fund personal training?
Yes, the NDIS can fund personal training when it is directly related to your disability and helps you achieve the goals in your NDIS plan. Personal training most commonly falls under the Capacity Building budget category “Improved Health and Wellbeing,” which covers exercise advice required because of the impact of your disability. It can also be funded under Core Supports for community participation activities. We recommend speaking with your support coordinator or plan manager to confirm your specific funding.
Is Gains Fitness a registered NDIS provider?
Gains Fitness is not a registered NDIS provider. However, all our trainers hold current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, which means they have been vetted and cleared to work with NDIS participants. We work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. If you are plan-managed, your plan manager can process our invoices directly. If you are agency-managed, you may need to use a registered provider – please speak with your support coordinator to discuss your options.
What disabilities do your trainers have experience with?
Our trainers have experience working with participants living with a wide range of disabilities and conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, spinal cord injuries, psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and more. With over 19 years in the fitness industry and trainers who have backgrounds as disability support workers, we are confident working with virtually any condition. If you have a specific need, please contact us to discuss.
Do I need to provide any equipment?
No. Our mobile personal trainers bring all the necessary equipment to your session, including dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, mats, and any other tools required for your program. You don’t need to buy or provide anything.
Where can training sessions take place?
We can train you at your home, in your front or back yard, at your Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation, in a local park, at a community centre, or any other location that is safe and suitable. Our fully mobile service covers all Sydney suburbs.
How do I book sessions using my NDIS funding?
Simply contact us and let us know whether you are self-managed or plan-managed. For self-managed participants, you book directly with us and claim from your NDIS budget. For plan-managed participants, we coordinate with your plan manager and invoice them directly, so there is no out-of-pocket cost if your plan covers personal training.
How long is each training session?
Sessions are typically 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your needs and what is agreed in your service agreement. We can also accommodate shorter sessions for participants who prefer a lighter introduction to training.
Can I train with a friend or in a group?
Absolutely. We offer small group training sessions for NDIS participants. Training with a friend, family member, or other participants is a great way to stay motivated and build social connections. Group sessions can also be more cost-effective under your NDIS budget.
Do you provide progress reports for NDIS plan reviews?
Yes. We provide regular progress notes and can supply detailed reports summarising your achievements, current abilities, and recommended ongoing supports. These reports can be used to support your NDIS plan review and demonstrate the value of continued funding for personal training.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules where possible. If you have an emergency or health situation, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate you. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in accordance with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements.
